When we first ventured onto the internet in 2003 withwinninghorsebets.com handicapping service, we were so successful that other Handicappers were subscribing to OUR service and representing our picks as THEIR OWN! We were flattered but not too happy. We couldn't do a lot about it! Being limited by time to how many tracks we could handicap. We hadn't anticipated the demand to handicap more than the few tracks we selected. Deadlines conflicted with our extensive travel requirements, so it was back to the drawing board! How did we start Handicapping? We sneaked up on the handicapping scene from a background in Track Investigation, business and statistics as well as writing instructional manuals for teaching technical information (which we also did). Combining this broader view, we developed a better way to predict winners over a period of many years of drawing on existing sources, studying the horses and testing our luck. This has produced the NEW RESULT you would expect when you're able to combine so many disciplines and so much related information and we are really excited to offer it to you!
We suspected that, given the amount of documentation and statistical information available in the equine world, there had to be a better way to predict how a horse would run so we started with standards such as Andrew Beyer's books on Speed and Handicapping. We poured over Daily Racing Forms and periodicals for any hints, so our choices wouldn't be dependent on what the jockey ate for dinner, the colors of the silks, the horse's name or the ambient temperature on the last workout on the Wednesday before the race. (Sound familiar?)
We also spent a lot of money on so-called Sure Fire System(s), promising outlandish wealth and often appearing in the form of a few pages, poorly copied and stapled together. We paid for and studied reams of "charts" that promised much and led us nowhere! We often felt cheated, but in looking back know that those, too, were a learning experience!
We've had some interesting moments over the years:
like when our choice fell over dead as he led down the stretch; or when a stranger at a Philadelphia, PA off-track insisted on "borrowing" one of our picks
to place a $1000.00 bet--on impulse (Fortunately, he won!).
We finally found a better way to pick a winning horse. We know there is always someone who can brag up a big win--like winning the lottery. But we're especially talking about the day by day, race by race REGULAR WINNING that makes racing fun and keeps you in the money! We haven't found anything that can duplicate our success.
